DevLINK Bus

devLINK is a two day conference just outside of Nashville, TN on August 22nd-23rd.  It’s a cross-discipline conference having sessions for developers, DBAs, business analysts, architects and project managers.  I’ve never been to one but this year I’m making the trek down.

Speaking of that trek.  The conference is 305.9 miles from Cincinnati.  According to Live Maps that’s about four and a half hours.  That can be a long drive especially if you’re driving down on your own.  With gas prices as they are it can be expensive as well.  If only there was a way that you could get on a transportation device and be instantly transported there.  Well, while beaming technology isn’t out yet someone has come up with stop gap for the conference trip: the devLINK bus

Amanda Laucher (Pandamonial on Twitter) is organizing a charter bus starting from Grand Rapids, MI, stopping at various cities along the way to the conference.  Planned stops include Grand Rapids, Detroit, Lansing, Toledo, Findlay, Columbus, Dayton, Cincinnati and Louisville.  Riding the bus will give you a chance to hang out with fellow geeks (and people who are in denial of being geeks) before AND after the conference.  Why submit yourself to a long, boring, lonely drive when you ride the devLINK bus and hang out with some great people?  Rumor has it that even Ted Neward is going to be taking the bus.

If you’re interested please go fill in the contact form that is on the devLINK bus page.  The organizers are still trying to solicit some sponsors in order to make the trip very cost effective for the travelers.  If your company would like to help sponsor the trip then use the contact form to let the organizers know!
