Do you wish they had more connection shortcut keys in SQL Management Studio?
I have been working with SQL Management Studio for some time now (and that probably sends chills up the spines of the Database developers that know me). I’ve been using it more and more recently as I’m querying the database where we keep all of our log messages from the application. I’ve found that I’m changing my query connection quite a bit and disconnecting query windows. Currently this is only available via the context menu in the query window, off the Query > Connections menu or on the toolbar. That sounds like a LOT of options, but they all require the use of the mouse (or at least a fair number of keys to bring up the context menu and move to the option I want. All the while a new query window can be opened by just hitting Ctl-N.
I’ve put in a suggestion that they add a shortcut key for disconnecting a query window and changing a query window connection. If you would also like to see these shortcut keys added jump over to connect (you’ll need your Windows Live account to log in) and vote it.
