Getting XP SP2....
Microsoft has released Windows XP SP2. It is on the MSDN download for Universal subscribers now (so I hear, I don’t have access to this anymore). It is being released on the newer version of Windows Update (V5) which the people who ran the Release Candidate of the SP are on. It will be released to the other Windows Update site soon.
Since I run the SP2 RC right now I got the “You have updates to download” message from Automatic Updates. I clicked the “Yes download it now and install it so I can get off this RC version” button. Well, the automatic updates icon doesn’t appear to show status of the download anymore because there is no icon in my systray and I don’t see any activity on the network icon….hmmm….I guess not so automatic.
I run out to windows update thinking I’ll just download it directly. No dice…the site says let automatic update do it. And depending on how often you connect to the internet and for how long it may take quite a while to download. Hmmm….I guess I get to wait longer.
