Automatic blogroll and public OPML!

Well, okay, this is cool.  The free NewsGator online services give you the ability to have a public OPML and auto generate a blogroll for your blog page.  So, no more having to keep up with adding new blogs to your website after you start reading them.  With the OPML you can choose to expose what you read as an OPML that others can import and start from.  This is just too cool.  My OPML can be found at http://services.newsgator.com/ngws/svc/opml.aspx?uid=3738&mid=1.  As I make changes to my subscriptions this automatically gets updated!  Also, the blogroll generator can be updated with your own code so that it fits into your templated site all nice and pretty.  I’ll have to spend some time getting mine done.

You can also group feeds into “locations” and then expose the OPML or generate your blogroll based on those locations.  So if you have some “private” feeds (you don’t want anyone knowing about your underwater basketry weaving hobby) you can exclude those.

Another neat thing I’ve seen is the ability to send a feed to a URL and it will automatically add it to your feeds.  So you can create your own links to add your site to someone’s subscriptions, or set up a tool to send new subscriptions to your online store.  Very cool.  I see a FireFox update in the future with that written all over it.  BTW, if you are a NewsGator Online user you can subscribe to my blog by clicking here!
