Thinking of Leaving Newsgator...

I’ve been using Newsgator as my RSS aggregator for about a year or more.  I was pulled in by the integration of the Outlook Edition of their reader and really like it.  Before that I was using SharpReader, but that seemed really slow and was another program to keep open, etc., etc.  So, after my 30 day trial of Newsgator Outlook I purchased a license and have been pretty happy.  That is up until a week or so ago.  Newsgator announced they were releasing the new version of the Outlook Edition.  This version was supposed to include better synchronization between the Outlook Edition and the Online Edition, which is something I’ve been waiting on for quite a while.  Happy to see the release I went out to their site to download it and then I notice that you have to be a Business subscriber.  That’s $19.95/year, which isn’t much, but is still more than the Nothing I pay now.

Things I love about Newsgator are:

  1. It was free after the purchase of the Outlook Edition plug in (until now).  I could keep using the older version, but not sure how long they will support it with their synchronization service.
  2. They have the online aggregator.
  3. They have the “Locations” that let you group feeds together and expose them for public OPML or automated blog rolls (very handy).
  4. It was integrated into Outlook.

So, I guess now I’m going to either wait for RSS integration in the next version of Outlook and for now stick with the old version of Newsgator, or I’m going to start looking for a new RSS provider.  I really need something that has online feed aggregation, and would prefer something that had the automatic blog roll and public OPML.  Any thoughts?
