Tablet off for memory upgrade
I’ve sent off my LS800 for a memory upgrade. This was a big complaint of mine about the system, the memory is not user serviceable. Some people have braved opening this cram packed chasis to update their memory, but I felt more comfortable sending it off for the work. Motion Computing now has a disclaimer on their web site when you purchase the LS800 saying that the memory is NOT updateable after the point of sale. I find this dissappointing to say the least and crappy engineering design to say slightly more than the least. Anyhow, Allegiance Technology Partners is offering memory upgrades for the Motion. You can check out this thread on TabletPCBuzz for more information.
They offer half off the labor cost if you tell them they can keep the original chip. Also, shop around on the prices for the chip before you call them. They matched the price I found online from Crucial. They were very easy to work with.
But as Ben said…now I’m going through Tablet withdraw.
