Change is here! (new job)

Last week I blogged that had my last day at a great company.  This week I started a new path in my career and I can already tell I’m in for some really challenging and interesting work.  I’m now working for Cumulux, a cloud computing services and product company.  For those of you who know that I’ve spent a good deal of time becoming very familiar with Windows Azure over the last two years this likely isn’t a surprise.

I’ll be doing some travel to work with clients, but for the most part will be working out of the house. I’ve only worked from home on occasion when it was too bad to drive in, or I had something else going on that day that I needed to be close to home for, so it will take a little getting used to working out of the house on a constant basis. I’m definitely going to take advantage of the lack of a 50 minute commute (one way) every day.  Now I don’t have much of an excuse to make it to the gym in the mornings.  Today I even took the dog for a walk during lunch (I’m not sure which one of us was more tired at the end though).

The company is distributed, with team members across the U.S. and in India.  I’ve worked with remote teams before, but luckily I’ll have a coworker right here in Cincinnati as well.  Doug Rohrer, who I worked with at a previous company many years back, has also joined the ranks at Cumulux.  I think we’ll be finding a good place to meet from time to time just for both of us to get out of our houses.

Like I said in my last post, change is hard, but exciting.
