How to make a Favorites list for OneNote 2007
With OneNote 2007 they have introduced the ability to hyperlink sections, paragraphs, notebooks, etc. from within OneNote. This is an incredibly handy feature. During the early Beta I came up with a cool way to use this feature to create a type of “Favorites” dropdown so that I could have pretty much instant access to a few pages in my notebook.
- Right click on any of the menu bars and drag a “new menu” from the
customize window over to one of your tool bars. The new menu option is at
the bottom of the categories select box on the right hand side of the
customize window. Once you have it drug over to a bar, right click it and
rename it “Favorites” or something like that. - Next go find the folder you want to link to (or page, or section, or
notebook…they all should work). Right click on it and select the “Copy
Hyperlink to this …(Folder/Page/Section/Notebook). This will copy a
OneNote link into your clip board. - Go back to your toolbar and select customize again.
- Drag a command up to your new menu, which should act like a drop down
menu. At this time I can’t see how it matters what command you drag up
there, except it seems to change what icon you have for your menu item. - Right click the command you just added to your menu. At the bottom of
the context menu is “Assign Hyperlink”. Select that, then select Open..
from the sub menu. When the hyperlink window appears, paste the OneNote Link from your clipboard into the Address textbox (Ctrl-V) and click Ok. Close out the customize window.
Now, you should be able to use the new menu as a drop down and click on any
of the links you’ve created in it and go straight to where you want to go.
