User Group in Second Life...

In the latest INETA newsletter I came across a reference to the Second Life .Net User Group. They meet every other Saturday at noon PST in Second Life. I’ve never used Second Life, but I may have to check this out just to see what one of the meetings is like.

Sci-Fi or Real?

Europe’s Jules Verne spacecraft (space-truck) is quite a marvel. They are having it do several demonstrations of it’s capabilities prior to letting it dock with the ISS. It is maneuvering on it’s own within specific distances of the station, then on command, backing off. This is all done completely by the computers on the Jules Verne with no human interaction other than receiving the instructions to back off or move to “X” meters from the station.

Anyone have Dropbox invites?

There is a service in private beta called DropBox (http://www.getdropbox.com/) which is a syncing solution much like FolderShare. I’m starting to investigate this type of solution because recently I’ve decided to not sell my LS800 tablet. I actually missed using it for taking notes at work and for sitting on the couch to read with. I was trying to make it into my only computer, which just did not work given that with only a 1GB or ram and a slower processor it just can’t keep up with a development environment, SQL Server Dev edition and everything else I was trying to get it to do.
