Using BGinfo for Tracking Virtual Machine Contents

I’ve really started to get into using Virtual Machines (VM) to do all of my development and beta testing. I’ve got several VMs setup using VMWare Workstation and, although it’s not often, I do have several open at once from time to time. I also keep a lot of older VMs that I used for a particular purpose (like testing some product or a side project). This leads to a little management issue of all these VMs.

Dreamspark expands

This may be old news, but the Dreamspark program that Microsoft offers for students to be able to get top level developer software for free has now been extended to High School students. Personally, I think this is an awesome program. Several years back my next door neighbor’s son told me he was interested in computer programming. Later, after I attended the VS 2005 launch and was given then VS 2005 professional bits I came home and took those next door (I had access to the bits via MSDN anyway).
