P&P Day One: EntLib 3

 

The third session was given by Tom Hollander talking about what’s coming in Enterprise Library 3.0. I was looking forward to this talk, but was somewhat disappointed. I’m not sure what I was expecting as this work is just getting started.

Tom has already posted a blog entry about what may be in EntLib 3.0 so I won’t rehash that. What I can say is:

• They plan on putting out a version that works with .Net 2.0, but has some enhancements that can be used with .Net 3.0.
• They plan on shipping early in 2007 for version 3.0.

As for the talk itself, it was just a really long description of how they gathered the data for determining what would be in version 3.0. A great way of telling us how much they listen to our input, but could have been done in twenty minutes.
