I meant to post a reminder that CINNUG was meeting last night but forgot. Ben gave a great presentation on using Relfection to validate business entities. Using attributes he showed how to mark properties on a business entity to be validated in certain ways, for example a property that was required, or a property that had to match a certain regular expression to be valid. The business entities could then use these attributes in conjunction with some functionality on the base entity class to perform validations of the entities that could be called from any consuming code.
I think I saw this a while back, but a recent MCP Flash newsletter reminded me about the free e*Learning training on the Microsoft site. Check out the E-Learning Online Training section of the VS2005 site. It has some online courses free of charge for both VS.Net 2005 and SQL Server 2005. The courses for VS.Net will be free until Nov. 8th, 2005 (just before the actual launch), while the ones for SQL Server indicate they will be free until Nov.
Looks like Cincinnati will get its own launch event, albiet about a month after the official launch. Better late than never I guess.
There is going to be a launch event in Cincinnati on the 13th of December for both VS.Net and SQL Server.
People who register in advance are supposed to get a free copy of VS.Net 2005 and SQL Server 2005. You need to register to attend and get the software.
