P&P Summit Day Three Wrapup

Well, then end of the third day comes and I’m dead tired. They had several Agile related talks today that really just kept hammering pretty much the same concepts over and over. The Agile talk on Agility was pretty good in that it was cool to see them give a talk on agile using the agile method. I think it really shows how the methodology works. I did get to tour the P&P office tonight after the sessions.

P&P Summit Day Three: Micro-Pairing

The last actual session of the day was given by Peter Provost and Brad Wilson. They described a type of game where during paired programming turns into a game where one developer is writing tests and the other developer has to write the code to pass them. They started with the idea that even while groups are adopting agile methodology at a fast rate, most of them do not adopt the paired programming model.

P&P Summit Day Three: Patterns for Connected Systems

Next up for the day was Ted Neward to talk about Patterns for Connected Systems, or some core WCF patterns. His talk focued on what are the best practices in using WCF; however, since it’s new we don’t know what is best practice. So to look for best practices now he turns to J2EE to at least get some patterns and see if anything maps over well. He then goes through a couple of examples from the “Core J2EE Patterns” book to see if can be used for WCF patterns.
