Windows XP SP2 Issues?
Well since my last post on this I have made some progress. Apparently the automatic update system had put me in some sort of wait mode until it decided it could download the update. My tablet was connected to the internet ALL day yesterday and it started downloading the SP sometime after 3:00 PM. By 3:50 (when I had to leave to go to pick up my car from the shop) it has only gotten to 26%. This update is only about 266 MB.
After I got home I connected back up with the internet (first via an Ethernet cable, but when it didn’t start downloading again right away I switched to my home wireless network so I could work in the kitchen). It started redownloading around 9:45 PM and around 9:50 I had the other 74% of the service pack (hmmm….reminder to download large things at home and NOT at the office with the multiple T1 connections and thousands of computers on the network).
My installation went well, no glitches. The tablet appears to be working just fine at the moment, but I haven’t run much other than FireFox, Outlook, Remote Desktop and OneNote since. I’ll be checking some other applications over the next few days. Looks like other people are seeing issues with the new service pack though.
What have been your experiences with this Service Pack? Did it install well, but screw things up? Any software you have found that didn’t play well with SP2?
